Your Life is God’s Tool! -- Midweek Message

“This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.”
Acts 9:15

Your Life is God’s Tool! — Midweek Message

During a church clean-up day on a cool fall morning, I started raking the leaves.  With gloves on, and rake in my hand after 45 minutes or so I felt like I barely made a dent on the leaves.  Just when I thought the leaves were going to win, out walks one of our church members with his industrial-sized leaf blower.  Vroom Vroom Vroom.  In 30 seconds flat he accomplished what took me 45 minutes to do.  I learned a valuable lesson that day. Don’t use a rake for a leaf blower job! Having the right tool matters!

In the book of Acts, God had a giant job for his people to do:  take the gospel to the ends of the earth.  To accomplish this task, God hand selected his tool.   In a vision he told a man named Ananias to appoint Paul to be the missionary to the Gentiles.  Right away, Ananias is like, “Are you sure, Lord?  That guy?”  Ananias had good reason to be concerned.  Paul used to hate Christians and persecute the church.  But when God converted Paul, all that changed.  Paul would be the tool, the instrument, that God uses to do great things.  Paul would be the tool that God would use to proclaim his name to the Gentiles, to preach before governors and kings and politicians, he would be the one that would lead many Jews to faith that Jesus is the Savior.  He is God’s chosen tool.

God picked you, too.  You are one of God’s chosen instruments.  You might feel unworthy to this task but just like how Jesus shed his blood for Paul’s sins, he also shed his blood for yours.  You are forgiven and handpicked by God!  God made you his own and he wants to use you!  Your life is God’s tool!

Dear Lord, help me to live my life to serve you. Amen.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Tom
