Wouldn’t you like to be described like Barnabas? A good person, full of the Holy Spirit, and faith. Barnabas is one of the missionaries in the book of Acts. Apparently a very successful missionary at that. Many people were brought to the Lord through his actions. You know what I love about those descriptions? None of them focus on Barnabas’ skill set. So often in this world we love to classify people about what they are good at. But here it doesn’t say, “Barnabas was a dynamic preacher.” Or “Barnabas was a big extravert that made him a good missionary.” Instead the Bible says he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and had a deep faith. God cares about character. Barnabas lived a godly life and showed his faith and guess what happened? People came to faith.
Because of Jesus those descriptions apply to you as well. You are a good person! You know why? Because Jesus made you perfect. You are full of the Holy Spirit. You know why? Because God put the Holy Spirit in your heart. Jesus takes sinners like you and me and makes us perfect. So as we go out and live good lives serving the Lord, you know what I think will happen? More people will come to faith, too.
